The Supportive Housing for Youth Program (SHYP) services homeless youth between the ages or 16 and 20. Currently, SHYP is available in Chippewa and Houghton Counties.

Services offered for participants include provision of safe and stable living environments, counseling, life-skills training, and referral to additional service providers.

Youth involved in the program are required to pursue and maintain employment, work on educational goals (i.e. graduation or obtaining a G.E.D.), and remain substance free while living in SHYP housing.

Participants can stay in SHYP for up to 18 months. The program also accepts pregnant and parenting teens/young adults.
