Child and Family Services has contracted with the Department of Human
Services to provide fatherhood and parenting services designed to promote
individual and shared parenting responsibility, strengthen family
relationships, and improve co-parenting skills among couples in Marquette
County. Clients of Proud Fathers services include adolescent and adult
fathers or other male caretakers of children. Clients of Proud Parents
services are adolescents and adult parents or couples.
The Proud Fathers program is a 13-week (with an added 14th session to provide
participants with employment-related services), group-based program
for developing attitudes and skills for male nurturance. An example of program activities
include balancing work and fathering, communication and problem solving, and
discipline without violence.
The Proud Parents program focuses on strengthening the couple relationship
through a shared exploration of parenting attitudes and skills. The 10-week
curriculum utilizes the curriculum to aid partners in learning about
themselves and each other, while creating a shared vision for family life.
An example of program activities include family leadership, sharing power,
and discipline and teamwork.
