Homeless Prevention Program

		The Homeless Prevention Program is in place to serve individuals and families in Baraga, Houghton, and Keweenaw by providing short-term subsidies to defray rent and utility debts for families that have received eviction or utility termination notices.
	In addition the Homeless Prevention Program will provide assistance with first month’s rent to permit individuals or families at risk of homelessness to obtain permanent housing. All individuals seeking assistance will be expected to meet with the Homeless Prevention Case Manager to receive brief life skills training in one or more of the necessary areas. This may include assistance with budgeting, accessing community resources, and/or seeking/maintaining employment.
