Child & Family Services of the Upper Peninsula, Inc.
Serving Children and Families in Michigan's Upper Peninsula Since 1919
The Supportive Housing for Youth Program serves youth between
the ages of 16 and 20 in Chippewa, Houghton and Menominee
Counties.
SHYP provides homeless youth with safe and stable living
environments, teaches youth how to care appropriately for
themselves and others, and equips youth with skills that will
help them maintain stable employment and living arrangements
throughout the rest of their adult lives.
The goals of SHYP are :
- to provide up to 18 months of case management and
support that will facilitate the stable transitions of young
adults into independence;
- to help youth establish positive rental histories while
gaining self-sufficiency; and
- to help youth access resources that will be helpful to
them while living on their own.
